September 6 - september 7

September 6
Still raining hard today, Picked somem oacra and fried it in some butter milk batter(James did all the cooking, It was defintaly some of the best i've had). Also went to the store and bought some corn meal for the oacra, eggs, bacon and milk for some good breakfast. Ricky and Trystan came by this afternoon after breakfast and started some painting andother work. Dad helped out by painting, pulling nails and trimming. Also, three deer passed through the back yard while we
was resting. Since I dont have much to talk about for today I'll just brag about the church. They grow an acre long garden full of potatoes, oacra, ciyan peppers, squash, banana peppers and many other vegetables. They planted 3000 pounds of potatoes and grew 4000 pounds. What do
yhey do with this food? sell it right? WRONG! They give it away. Thats right just give it away, They distribute it out to to the great citizens of addison, ALABAMA. They also have a bus route were they pick up 35 or more kids who might not have a meal that night, feed them and even give them a snack bag to take home that night. They even bring in a truck from birmingham
and bring 3000 pounds of food to distribute out to the town. They always think about others. If heaven is on earth then Addison is a big part of it. We really loved adison, to such an extent that James and I wanted to live there, Definatly one of our favorite towns and definatly will go back and visit. We loved everyone there and wish you all good luck.

September 7,
Left out early today, put everything back the way it was before we set up set up our beds in the living room. I'm sure they were kinda sad to know that we have left their lives for now. The only thing we left was some oacra on the counter. Walking in that house and seeing that we were gone. Not able to see our smiling faces anymore, make jokes with us or having us help them with things and sharing stories. We will miss you too. But we have to go on for now. After we left, we got on our bikes and went on a roller coaster. Up, Down, Up, Down and maybe even a gift shop at the end were we can get a picture of our tired faces. Dennis, James and Keith on roller coaster "278". But the fun isn't over yet. Your freindly neighborhood dogs are here to chase us out of town. We some the most beautiful dogs though. Looked like wolfs except all white with really long fur. Went into double springs and had some cereal at a food club When we bought some frosted mini wheats. The manager came and talked to us and was so kind as to bring us some styrofoam cups. After that we saw a route 66 gas station were the gas prices were $1.32. Remember the good ole days when we complained about those prices? Yeah good times, afterwards we went into Natural bridge national park. Met a lady named barbera that manage the place and she loved to tell stories about the place and about indians being moved through the trail of tears(the name says it all) and her sons. We went over to the natural bridge and WOW, what a view! First was the indian face rock that actually looked like an indian face coming out of the rock. Then there was the ampitheater size cave that the Natural bridge(a bridge made by the earth itself) it was on top of. It was beautiful, all the veins in the rock and water dripping from the ceiling were it made a beautiful soundtrack while you stood in amazement at one of the
wonders of earth. You could feel the spirits around you as you wondered if indians once lived in that cave. James was climbing every rock he saw and just had the time of his life. I walked really slowly around the walls of the cave and examined everything. Dad took more pictures than I could count as we ventured around the cave. We went adventuring around and found another cave by itself. James just couldnt sit still see he found a trail to hike on as me and dad relaxed. After he came back we headed out but before we did I bought a raccoon tail. Guess were I put it? look at the next set of pictures and you'll see it. After that, we headed off to brilliant alabama, but we didnt reach it. Instead we reached 42 miles and passed by the church of christ. So we stopped in and stayed for the service. Lots of ladies, only 4 other guys not including us. After the service The preacher, his wife and sister said we could stay there tonight but we had to let the
neighbor know. But she was still at church so we all stayed outside and talked. As we talked, the wife and sister decided to bring us some dinner becuase we didn't reach the town tonight. They brought us a case of Mello Yello's, cookies, spam, bread, hamburger buns, peanut butter crackers, nature valley bars, baked beans and some apples(P.s we lost the apples) and when the neighbor came home she brought us some watermelon(which only lasted an hour) and some musky dimes(THANK YOU SO MUCH!). After that we ate the spam with bread, watermelon, cookies and some of the muskydimes with the gusto of a starving hound dog. After dinner we took a picture of everybody that was left, then they all drove away and we set up a john wayne camp beside the church and fell asleep.

  1. I very much enjoyed meeting you all at The grocery store in Jones Chapel on hwy 278. I wish I'd had more time to talk with you! I was very interested in hearing about your travels! I had a few people asking me about "those bike riders who took your picture". So I told them about you all (what little I knew) I figured that you all were doing this trip on faith and in the name of out Jesus. Well after reading your posts that's what you are doing! Like I said, I wish I had more time to speak with y'all and maybe sang an uplifting song for you! I don't usually work on Sunday's but I'm sure glad I did that afternoon and learned about your adventure (I had left after church and came to work) Bless you and your ministry. Can't wait to see the rest of your pictures and posts!

  2. Definitely one of the best comments we've had for a while. Thank you very much for the kind words. You are right, we are traveling on faith and praying everyday for our daily bread and water. We wish we could have heard the beautiful song you sang. Trust me more pictures are one the way and they won't stop coming until we hit our final destination. Bless you too and thanks again for the comment
